Design agency’s move enables new creative careers in Yorkshire

Award-winning design agency, Buttercrumble, has moved to a larger studio to house and support its growing team.

Buttercrumble was founded by twin sisters, Abigail and Chloe Baldwin, who are proud to call Bowcliffe their new home. Their studio is situated on a Georgian country estate close to Wetherby and Leeds, West Yorkshire.

The move took place earlier this year and, since then, the micro-business has generated two new roles. The founders, whose own upbringings presented a lack of creative opportunities, are passionate about providing employment in the design industry. Abigail and Chloe have championed creative education and industry with the help of organisations including the British Library, Leeds City Council, and the Saturday Club Trust.

The new roles (aptly named) Creative Champion and Community Happiness Manager will be hugely beneficial to Buttercrumble’s business growth. The all-female team is responsible for producing design solutions for community-sensitive organisations such as Chester Zoo, Mamas and Papas, and John Lewis. The agency’s personal and empathetic approach helps to eradicate barriers to engagement so they can position clients as the leaders in their field.

Bowcliffe was carefully selected with both employees and clients in mind. Chloe explains “Buttercrumble is an active community and we needed a space to reflect that. Bowcliffe provides an abundance of beautiful spaces for us to meet with clients and get creative”. The estate boasts landscaped gardens and a private members’ club which the agency values as an important part of the community experience.

The recent lock-downs have highlighted a correlation between wellbeing, productivity, and our environment. This made Bowcliffe an easy choice for Buttercrumble who understand the importance of space, resource, and nature in promoting wellness and creativity.

The team is already reaping the rewards from their expansion. Buttercrumble will be launching a number of high-profile projects with the public sector and international brands soon. They also plan to make an additional hire within the next year.
