Food industry training experts, Verner Wheelock, have just launched their own Basic Food Safety & Hygiene for Manufacturing online course and are offering it completely free of charge for a limited period.
To access the free training, please visit www.vwaonline.co.uk
Aimed at those in entry level positions throughout food manufacturing, the course’s video-based modular format gives trainees the flexibility to complete the training in their own time and at their own pace. The entire course takes approximately 2-3 hours to complete.
The course content is equivalent to Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene but has been tailored to be completely relevant to food manufacturing. Presented by a food safety trainer with manufacturing experience it features a blend of video, detailed examples, interactive assessments and fact checking throughout to ensure the retention of information.
There are six modules to complete:
- Introduction to Food Safety & Food Poisoning
- Microbiological Hazards
- Physical, Chemical & Allergenic Hazards
- Controlling Hazards
- Workplace Hygiene & Design
- Legal & Personal Responsibility
Following successful completion of the modules there is a final assessment consisting of 20 multiple choice questions. Trainees can then download and print their own certificate awarded by Verner Wheelock.
Managing Director, Alison Wheelock, says, “We had initially intended this course for internal use, as a refresher for delegates on our Food Safety and HACCP courses, but we soon realised that there is nothing quite like it in terms of online training.
Given the current situation regarding COVID-19, many staff are working from home, furloughed or needing basic food safety training to be able to undertake new roles in the food or farming sector, we felt it would be the ideal time to launch it and offer it free of charge, to give people a helping hand.”
Verner Wheelock celebrates 30 years in business this year and provides award-winning training to staff from several of the UK’s leading food manufacturing companies, as well as smaller food businesses.
