Head of Tax at Watson Buckle receives a prestigious nomination for national awards

The Taxation Awards have announced that Watson Buckle’s Tax Director, John Kinsella, has been nominated for the Outstanding Contribution to Tax in 2020-21 Award.

These prestigious national awards celebrate the leading individuals and firms in the UK tax sector and see hundreds of nominations each year from some of the country’s leading practices.

John has been selected for the Outstanding Contribution to Tax Award based on his dedication to supporting clients during the challenges of the last year and his ongoing role in one of the UK’s most significant tax cases, which could have a substantial impact on charitable giving for years to come.

Although this case is currently ongoing, the Judges at the awards recognised the significance of John’s work and have put him forward for the shortlist in this competitive category.

Speaking about his achievement, John said:

“It is a real honour to be nominated for such a highly-regarded and coveted award. Our entire tax team has worked incredibly hard in the last year to support our clients, including acting for them in important tax matters, which could have a wider impact on our profession and certain industries.”

The nomination also highlighted the work that other members of the Watson Buckle tax team had achieved and the growth of the department in the last year.

The tax department continues to go from strength to strength each year, welcoming new team members, clients and work from around the world.

Many tax practices and professionals from across the UK rely on the expertise and knowledge of John and his team, often referring their most complex cases to the firm.

Jennifer Bowie, John’s colleague and Watson Buckle’s Personal Tax Manager, added:

“John is highly regarded by many in our profession and an expert in a great many different fields of taxation.

“Since joining the firm more than 20 years ago, he has grown and developed the department into one of the leading tax teams in the UK. His knowledge is often called upon by many others within our profession, which speaks volumes of the respect that many have for him.”

John will now face a public vote among the UK’s top tax professionals to decide whether he takes the title home via a virtual awards ceremony due to take place on 13 May.
