Recruit an undergrad with the Summer Experience programme
Summer Experience is an internship programme that offers businesses the opportunity to recruit an enthusiastic undergraduate student from the University of Bradford for a six-week project-based internship between the end of May and early September 2020 in a cost-effective way. This popular programme is designed to provide students with work experience where they can gain confidence in the workplace and develop all important employability skills. Students will receive a salary of £320 per week, and this year some funding is available to subsidise the cost for SME’s with suitable projects. Costs for a 6-week internship are therefore:
· £965 for an SME (less than 250 employees), ie 50% funded
· £1930 for large organisations (250+ employees)
The University’s Employer and Placement Services Team can support you in drafting an Internship Brief and will advertise your opportunity to first and/or second year students. The team will support the initial recruitment and selection process and the University also provides the contracting and payroll services at no additional cost.
Furthermore, businesses and interns will be invited to the Summer Experience awards evening in September. With a choice of categories, businesses can nominate their intern for an award if they have done a great job over the summer. We will also ask the interns to nominate their providers for awards. The event is a fun way to recognise the hard work providers and students put into their internships and celebrate the inspiring stories behind them. If you have a project in mind, please complete a project brief form on the Summer Experience Website and return it to us as soon as possible. Once we receive your form and details are agreed, we will start promoting your opportunity to students. Alternatively, contact Helen Bradley on 01274 232213 or h.bradley2@bradford.ac.uk.
