Summer 2024 flights on sale now as popular Dalaman destination returns

Holidaymakers can now get their 2024 summer holiday booked from Teesside, with flights now on sale – including the return of Dalaman, Turkey, after a 13-year absence.

Following the airport’s busiest period since returning to public ownership in 2019 – with passenger numbers up 25% year-on-year – TUI have launched their new weekly route.

It will fly to and from Teesside every Tuesday from 28 May until 17 September – with flights departing at 9.20am. The flights open up the sandy beaches of Marmaris and Olu Deniz, as well as scenic bays along the south-western edge of Turkey.

This joins the airline’s two flights a week to Majorca, running from 7 May to 22 October, which provides connections to Marella Cruises.

This summer has seen the airport enjoy its busiest period since returning to public ownership in 2019 with passenger numbers up 25% year-on-year.

Next year aims to be even bigger and better, with low-cost carrier Ryanair also putting its flights from Teesside on sale. It is laying on 14 weekly flights for holidaymakers seeking summer sun to Alicante, Corfu, Faro and Majorca.

Planes will take off from Teesside to Majorca from 31 March to 24 October, with Faro running from 31 March to 23 October – both operating twice a week. A once-a-week flight to Corfu will run from 1 June to 28 September, while the airline’s twice-weekly year-round flights to Alicante will continue.

The airline has also introduced a Family Plus bundle to help people planning their summer holiday, as the cost of living continues to bite. This includes one small cabin bag, one 20kg family check-in bag, 10kg check-in bags for each party member and free seats for kids under 12.

These join the three-times daily KLM flight to Amsterdam Schiphol, offering hassle-free onward connectivity to more than 160 destinations, plus Balkan Holidays’ service to Bourgas, Bulgaria, beginning 26 May and running to 8 September.

Teesside is on course to record its busiest year since 2011 and has seen the strongest recovery of any UK airport since the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “The airport has enjoyed its best summer in almost 15 years thanks to the great selection of flights and destinations provided by TUI, Ryanair, KLM and Balkan Holidays.

“But we want next year to be even better, with the return of Dalaman and a great choice of destinations on sale now – and going quickly.

“It means families from Teesside and beyond can book their flights while knowing they’ll be enjoying a smooth stress-free start to their well-earned holiday.

The flight announcement comes after Teesside Airport was named UK and Irish Airport of the Year.

Teesside was named UK and Irish Airport of the Year at the TTG Travel Industry Awards in London after winning recognition for its growth in flights and delivering a great passenger experience. It also won Best UK Airport for Leisure Travel at the British Travel Awards.
