York-based Employment Law firm grows to eight strong team

Award-winning York-based Employment Law firm, Torque Law, has expanded to become an eight strong team making it the largest employment law specialist in North Yorkshire. The new appointments follow steady growth of the business during 2020 which accelerated during the coronavirus pandemic as companies and business leaders grappled with the complexities of employment, and the law, and needed support and strategic advice more than ever.

Torque Law was founded four years ago by Tiggy Clifford and Emma Whiting who had a vision to ‘do things differently’ and now has five specialist employment solicitors with over 75 years’ combined employment law experience.

The firm specialises in supporting business owners and HR departments of medium and large businesses in Yorkshire and across the UK with all their employment law issues, with a particular focus on the more reputational and complex issues.  It has built up an impressive client list including Ellis Patents,  York Theatre, Yorwaste, York College, British American Tobacco plc, Autohorn Fleet Services and Johnsons of Whixley Ltd. Torque Law have a strong reputation in helping senior executives on an individual basis to assist with sensitive employment issues including helping to negotiate suitable exit agreements and terms of entry to a new position.

Both prominent and highly respected employment law solicitors, Tiggy Clifford and Emma Whiting originally met at University and have created a business that attracts high calibre work giving their clients the best possible experience whilst attracting quality talent. Tom Watkins, a former Partner at a leading Leeds-based Law Firm, recently joined the team and brings with him twenty years of employment law experience. With particular expertise in the education sector, his client base includes a number of independent schools across England.
