Yorkshire Building Society named Family Friendly employer

Yorkshire Building Society has been named – for the fourth year running – as one of the top UK employers for building flexible, family friendly workplaces.

The Society is named in the top 30 employers by charity Working Families after competing with large and small public and private sector organisations to gain a place on the list.

It features alongside organisations such as American Express, Imperial College London and the Welsh Parliament after continuing to embed and change the culture encouraging colleagues to find the right work-life balance.

Tracey Newton, Director of Colleague Experience at Yorkshire Building Society, said: “The Society being named as one of the UK’s most family friendly workplaces again for the fourth year running is a fantastic achievement.

“We’re really proud of the work we have implemented over the last few years but especially this year. With the coronavirus outbreak we have further invested in our people and our ‘Finding the Balance’ initiative geared around family friendly principles and flexible working practices has really come to life throughout the crisis. When the schools closed, we were able to offer our colleagues unlimited dependents and carers leave to ensure those with childcare responsibilities had the additional support they needed. Throughout the coronavirus outbreak, the Society has offered staff unlimited dependents and carers leave at full pay and anyone who is shielding, unwell or needs to self-isolate and cannot work from home qualifies for paid sick leave at their full salary.
